This June, we decided to parter with Emily and Bryan of Lake Michigan Credit Union, Grand Armory Brewing located in downtown Grand Haven, and Pound Buddies to put together a fundraiser to raise money for Pound Buddies Animal Shelter and Adoption Center. They are primary a volunteer organization that relies on donations and adoption fees for funding. They are dedicated to finding good homes for the homeless and abandoned dogs and cats.
Currently, Pound Buddies has over 110 adoptable dogs and gets more daily! Our goal was to raise enough money for them to be able to build and grow into their current building. Pound Buddies has a very low return rate because of their application guidelines and requirements. They take their time and knowledge to match an owner with a dog that they not only bond with but one whose needs correlate with the lifestyle of the owner.
During the day, the employees and volunteers take dogs on multiple walks, give them plenty of love and outdoor time, and even clean the kennels every few hours for each dog. They take their facilities cleanliness and functionality very serious. The donations they receive help them hire more workers, take on more dogs in need, and provide the best animal shelter experience possible to our furry friends.
By the end of the event, we raised $887 from raffles, 50/50, and donations. In addition, we raised $500 from the proceeds of the purchases at Grand Armory. Our donation is going to help them develop their outdoor area for more dogs to enjoy!
